80 degrees today. We took a cab from Vila so Conde to Arcos to put us on the Camino Central after our day of walking the coastal route, actually the Senda Litoral right on the waterfront.
Ahhh, I’m thinking cleanliness is ahead of godliness. It’s been a long time since I came in from a long day of walking drenched in sweat! The joy of a shower and fresh clothes albeit a limited choice of clothes.
Yesterday’s walk left us achy in the night but today we feel good.
We love the signs - the shells and arrows leading us.
The blue arrows lead to Fatima. In Portugal, Santiago competes with Fatima for sainthood!
Walking through eucalyptus today though it’s not native. Smells combined with farm smells!
Vegetable soup is delicious here and always available. The gardens are full of kale, potatoes, and onions so far. For lunch 5 euros bought us this first course and a second of meat, rice, potatoes, and salad. It might be my europhile talking but the olive oil is so delicious here.
Ok. So right across the street we have an offering for dinner for 6 Euros each that includes the vegetable soup , bread, steak with a fried egg . The required fence fries and the wine. And it’s tasty.
Now we’re back in our cozy hotel room watching James Cordon with subtitles In Portugues.
This is boot camp, a retreat, a cultural experience and more.
